Last weekend my family and I visited my brother, who is a student at Temple University. While we were there my brother gave me a small tour of the campus. Although it's a little different because of covid, I was still able to learn a lot about the campus and get most of my questions answered.
Although I thought I would leave the visit with much more confidence about the whole process of college, it actually ended up stressing me out a lot. Even though I learned a lot about Temple and how colleges operate, I realized that there is so much that I have no knowledge of, and along with that, the whole experience just got me to think about college.
Thinking about college often becomes pretty stressful for me, as I'm not sure what I want to major in yet or where I want to go. I often worry that I might pick a major and then lose interest midway through. I'm also trying to balance extracurricular activities and school work the best I can but at times it does get overly demanding. I'm also retaking the SAT in June and will have to study a lot. Balancing extracurricular activities, SAT studying, school work, and college and career research can get highly stressful, especially during hybrid school, which I don't really thrive in.
However, as I learn more and more about the college process and work towards my goals, my stress levels decline. I know all this will be worth it in the end and I hope my current stress will bring a more restful future.
I agree. College visits make you even more stressed than before you saw it. Every school looks like a dream school that has everything, then you go to another school and it has the same things plus more. It just gets confusing trying to figure out what you want in a school.
ReplyDeleteThinking about college stresses me out a lot as well. It always seems like there's so much to do in so little time, and sometimes you start to wonder whether or not you're even doing the right thing. Even though researching and visiting colleges a few years ago was fun and exciting, now it sometimes gives me anxiety because of how it's coming up so soon.
