Harclerode Week 8- Friends in Different Grades

Ever since I transferred to Nazareth last year, the majority of my friends have been sophomores (last year's freshmen). Whenever I hang out with a group of my friends, I am usually the only junior there. I have a handful of friends in my own grade, but some of them don't even go to Naz. There is a reason for this though. Last year, I had to take a few classes with the freshman class even though I was a sophomore. This was because the system at my old school, Central Catholic, is different from Nazareth's. So, I had to take American History I and Algebra II with a bunch of freshmen. I was a little wary about the prospect at first, especially since I didn't really know anyone at this new school. Turns out, these classes were going to help me make some of my best friends. Now, as a junior, I still have some classes with the grade below, but I am actually happy about that this time. I was fortunate enough to get put in classes with a lot of my sophomore friends.

Something that is funny to me is that I still feel like a sophomore sometimes because I'm always hanging around them. If I think about the fact that I'm going to be a senior next year, I think to myself, 'No, that's not possible, I still have another year before that happens!' Although, I would probably still think that regardless because it's crazy that next year we're all going to be seniors... time flew by!

That is going to be a tough transition for me, to be honest. I'm going to be leaving some of my best friends behind in high school when I go off to college, and that's going to be really hard for me. This is why I'm glad that I still have some friends my own age that will be able to relate to the situation of leaving home and being on our own for the first time. However, I'm still going to miss my younger friends. I guess that being behind and having to take freshman classes as a sophomore really paid off in the end, because I met some of my best friends that way.

  1. Even I can't believe we're going to be seniors next year. High school has flown by so fast! It's great to have friends in other grades, but it's definitely hard when life moves on and we have to leave friends behind.
