Uelses Week 5 - Work

Last year, I started working at Emily's Ice Cream. I had been looking for a place to start working for a little bit during the summer, and my friend recommended that I work there. So, I applied and started at the beginning of September. I had only went to Emily's  for ice cream a few times before this, so when I walked in for training, it felt like the first time again. I was immediately met with the amazing smell of freshly cooked waffle cones, sweet ice cream, and a cool breeze. The atmosphere was so new and fun.

Ever since, I have loved working there. I usually work the night shifts, which means filling cake pans for the next morning and serving ice creams to customers. I find it so interesting to see what people order, and every once in a while I'll get a crazy order with a bunch of random toppings. When I do work the day shifts, I go in, open the shop, and start decorating cake orders for that day. Some people find decorating cakes to be scary, especially because you have to write on them with little piping bags, but personally it's one of my favorite parts of the job.

For the most part, customers are really friendly. When little kids come in, their faces light up with joy when they get their ice cream. Every once in a while, though, a rude customer will come in. Some people have complicated orders too. For example, someone came in one time asking for 15 ice creams with different toppings and needed it done in 10 minutes. Luckily, that only happens every once in a while!

  1. That seems like a pretty fun job! I have a friend that works there as well, and she likes it too, although sometimes she finds the night shifts to be very tiring. It's so cool that you can decorate the cakes! I've only been to Emily's a few times before, and that was years ago, but the ice cream was really good.
