About two months ago, I got a new job at the Kiffle Kitchen, a bakery in Bath. My previous job was making sandwiches at Wendy's, and the working conditions were horrible. So, having a new one made me very excited. I quickly have found that my job at the Kiffle Kitchen is actually much more fun and enjoyable than any one I have heard of.
The nice thing about my job that I love is that we have no 'assigned' roles, meaning that there is a lot of work to be done each day and everyday just works on whatever part of it they would like, and we all go home when all the work is done. These short and constantly changing tasks make me not as bored as doing the same thing for four hours. I believe this actually increases productivity since it makes me actually want to do what I am working on, because i chose it over several other jobs.
Another really fun time that has formed is nights. Often, my boss leaves around 4 and all of my older coworkers leave around 6. After that it is just me and a few other high school kids, left alone to complete the night's work and lock up. These nights are usually a ton of fun since we finish work somewhere around 7/8 and just mess around together for an hour.
Finally, my boss is 33, and own a Mustang. Obviously he is pretty financially stable with how much output the business has, so he is a really laid back guy who is more interested in the stock market than how productive we are being.
Overall, I am very glad I found a positive job experience after my first very bad experience at Wendy's. It really is important to work with friends and to have fun; it makes the time go by so much quicker.

That's great that you've been liking your new job! Two of my biggest issues in a job are being bored and not having enough freedom. I love the idea of doing new things everyday and having the freedom to choose. It also sounds like you have a great boss which definitively makes a big difference on the work environment!
ReplyDeleteI remember going to Kiffle Kitchen when I was younger to take a class! It was so fun and it seems like such a nice place to work. Having a boss that is pretty laid back is always a relief in case you mess up, and overall it seems like a really cool job!
ReplyDeleteIt's always important to make sure your working conditions are good and you enjoy working with your co-workers because you are all working together to reach a common goal. I feel like when you develop a solid friendship with your co-workers, it makes working a lot more fun and interesting, which is always a plus.
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that you're enjoying your job. I remember you always talking about really not liking working at Wendy's when you had that job, so it's good that you found something you enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI think the most important part of having a job is making sure that you like to work there. If you are not happy where you work it shows in your work. I'm happy that you are enjoying your new job and I hope you continue to enjoy it in the future.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you've found a job that you enjoy! I've been thinking about getting a job, but like you said, boring jobs with repetitive tasks can be really miserable, and I'm holding off on it for this reason. It's also nice that you get along with your coworkers and boss, it makes life at work so much more fulfilling and fun!
